Prof. Dr. Semih Keskil was born in Ankara in 1960, the son of an immigrant family from Thessaloniki. He studied in Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School and Ankara Science High School before earning sixth place overall in Turkey in the Interuniversity Exam. He subsequently graduated from Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine in 1984.
In 1991, he received his specialization in Brain and Nerve Surgery from Gazi University. While working in various hospitals, he also completed a doctorate in Anatomy. He later established the Neurosurgery Departments at Fatih University Faculty of Medicine, Kırıkkale University Faculty of Medicine, and Yüksek İhtisas University Faculty of Medicine.
Prof. Keskil served as the Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at Ankara Bayındır Hospital for five years. He retired seven years ago and currently works in his private practice.
In his daily practice, Prof. Keskil primarily focuses on Pediatric Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, and Dementia. His experimental research is concentrated on Neuroanatomy and Stem Cells.
He has authored over 90 articles published in international scientific journals, which have been cited more than 1,400 times. His work is referenced in over 45 international textbooks. The patented surgical hand tools he developed are currently used in several international centers.
Prof. Keskil has been invited as a speaker to numerous international conferences and has received several national awards, including the ""Bayındır Encouragement Award."" His H-index is 20. He is married to Özlem Keskil and has a 25-year-old daughter, Alara Naz.
