Anesthesiology

Our team is represented by Assoc. Prof. Alper SALMAN, MD, who has earned international recognition at a young age in the fields of Anesthesiology, Reanimation, and Algology.

Anesthesiology and Reanimation is the branch of medicine that ensures patients are prepared for surgical procedures by administering anesthesia. This can involve fully sedating the patient, providing mild sedation, or anesthetizing a specific body area. Modern anesthesia techniques have significantly reduced risks, allowing even complex surgeries to be performed safely.

Algology, or the science of pain, is a subspecialty of Anesthesiology and Reanimation. Specialists in this field, who are also trained in algology, possess the expertise to alleviate pain using a range of methods, including medications, electrical applications, and surgical procedures.

In the context of spinal cord paralysis, which represents our target group, the fields of Anesthesiology, Reanimation, and Algology play a critical role. They are instrumental in determining whether the patient has failed to respond to conservative treatment methods or other pain control strategies. Additionally, they assess whether further surgical interventions are inadvisable for addressing the underlying pathology. Based on these evaluations, these specialists may recommend the placement of a spinal cord stimulator to manage the patient’s pain effectively.
