Is the treatment of spinal cord paralysis possible?

Even if spinal cord paralysis cannot be cured, it may still be possible for paralyzed patients to stand up and take steps without assistance.

You may have heard about stem cell treatments for unfortunate patients with permanent spinal cord paralysis. What we have learned from the studies we have followed for over 30 years is this: at least in the first half of this century, stem cell treatments will not offer any viable treatment options for spinal cord paralysis patients. For this reason, we have never administered stem cells to any of our spinal cord paralyzed patients to date, and we have always watched with regret as no benefits were observed in patients who underwent such trials.

However, the promising results achieved in the last few years through the method of internal spinal cord stimulation have sparked significant and realistic hopes, both in the medical field and among disabled individuals.
